Calling all artisans, heroes, scoundrels, and rogues!
Do you have a garment that tells a story? A suit of armor forged in the fires of your own creativity? The Sails & Sagas Costume Contest is your chance to showcase your incredible artistry on the main stage of Iroquois Shores.
Whether you are a seasoned master of the needle or a clever curator of found treasures, we want to celebrate the legends you bring to life!
Contest Details

The Main Event: Saturday, August 29th at 4:45 PM.

The Pre-Judging: Saturday starting at 1:00 PM.

The Gathering: Recruiting and onboarding from open until 3:00 PM.
Note: All contestants must participate in pre-judging to be eligible for prizes. You will receive an email one week before the Festival with more information.
Information for Little Looters (Under 12)
Younglings do not need to pre-register! Our Kids’ Costume Parade will take place at the start of the main contest at 4:45 PM. Just gather at the stage 10 minutes prior. Every participant in the kids' parade will receive a special gift to take home!
Have a costume that you didn’t make yourself? Don’t want to be part of the contest but want to show off your costume anyway? Those participating in the Red Carpet do not need to pre-egister! Red Carpet will take place just after the Little Sprites Parade at 4:45 PM. Just gather at the stage 10 minutes prior.
Main Costume Contest
There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each level.

Novice: Up to 50% of costume made or new to costume creation

Masters: Up to 100% of costume made or experienced with costume creation
Use your best judgment as to your level. All contestants must participate in pre-judging to be eligible for prizes. You will receive an email one week before the event with more information.
Note: Judges may bump contestants up to Masters if they feel they qualify for the category.
The Judge’s Eye
Our panel will be evaluating entries based on four pillars of excellence:

Overall Impact: How does the costume impress or command attention?

Attention to Detail: The "little things" that make the character real up close.

Craftsmanship: The quality of the build, stitching, or fabrication.

Creativity: Originality and the "spark" behind the design.
